Cebu Comicon and Trip!

We went to Cebu to attend their first ever comic convention last Saturday. I arrived Friday afternoon which was just enough to relax and fix my things. Then later on Manix (the rockstar) arrived in our hotel coming from the market and Magellan Cross. We were picked up by Malou and Michelle (kikomachine fan club Cebu chapter. O!!! Say niyo?) and went to Lapu Lapu City to eat Lapu Lapu fish.. and other seafood. The resto was full of lights in nipa huts. It was charming! We had a very nice dinner. Sorry I forgot the name of the resto... Below is Manix doing his usual pose...Then after dinner, we went to Mactan Shrine! This is the room I shared with the rock star Manix Abrera!!! (Castle Peak)The next day was already Comicon. We arrived in Ayala Mall around 10:30 am. Beerkada was already there as well as the komikon peeps. This is my first customer. He is Japanese and I guess he won't understand Callwork! Then came Gerry Alanguilan and his wife, Ilyn.Callwork buyers! Our table... beside me is manix na palaging nawawala... pero grabe fans niya... kinikilig kay Manix!Below are the indie komiks people from Cebu...She is from Cebu Sykes HR and an avid reader of Callwork. Below is their Cebu version of Clover...Attendees were around 1,000 people...Woa! I met Death herself!Jonas conducting a simple comic seminar...He just arrived on time for the seminar!Me and Jonas Diego

After the comicon, Me, Manix and Michelle went to Regency Tower to do some stunt thrilling adventure...

First ride was edge coaster... and it was this high...

They will tilt you 50 degrees on top of the tower....

Next was the Skywalk... (sorry it wasnt clear because these shots were only stolen...)
We walked on the sky (obviously)

Ika nga ni manis, Life changing experience daw...Then we got our certificates after...The next morning, Jonas came over and we went to Ayala Mall to meet Gerry, Ilyn and the Cebu comics people. It was a great chikahan moments all the way to the airport. :)

Fan Art by Tepai Pascual

A note from Tepai:

Bilang long weekend, madaming oras para magcomics at magbasa ng comics. After that, madaming oras para mag fan art! 8DJust finished some stuff for MARK 9verse47 and MAKTAN 1521. So I decided to read some indie comics i bought last MCC. Isa sa mga nagtawag pansin sa kin ay ang title nito. "Proud Callboy" by Hazel Manzano.Alam naman nating lahat sa baklitang babae ako. chos! at dahil ganon nga, natuwa ako sa isang character dito na nagngangalang Clover. XDI'm so happy with this charater because of his simple yet winner lines. I like the stories of these characters kaya ayan, nakabuo ako ng fan art. medyo unlikely yang mangyare pero... WHY NOT!? oras ko na para ilabas ang pagkabading ko sa artwork. LOL plus nainspire ako dun sa fan art ni carlo vergara. To Hazel, panalo yung Interviews. XD sana masmadami pa nun. :D

Grabe Tepai, napakaganda nito!!! Salamat!

Dra. Yap Mini Comics Review

"The subtitle to this story reads: “A True Story About a Doctor Who Unknowingly Joined Satanism.” ‘Nuff Said. It is remarkable how Hazel Manzano has blossomed from a newpaper cartoonist making simple three-panel punchlines to this confident graphic storyteller. Since she started experimenting with longer autobiographical works earlier this year, her storytelling technique has just gotten better and better. But even if you’ve never heard of Hazel Manzano before, you are going to enjoy this zany, creepy and highly entertaining story about the eponymous psychically-gifted doctor."

Thanks Macoy!!!
