Proud Callboy in Sense & Style August Issue

First of all, I was amazed at the magazine... I used to buy Sense&Style way back when I was still with Genpact and it really evolved. Good articles and photography... apparently I'm now enjoying this magazine than others (cosmo, mega and preview.. oh yeah even better than my most fave kzone)
Super thanks to Hector and Margaux for the article on Proud Callboy :)

Thinking Out Loud: Comic Strip Syndication

This certain American guy said that I should get Callwork syndicated and sell it to India newspapers. Translated version of course. Almost everyone there are into BPO's and there are good chances of getting some of these strips sold there. I never thought about that before. This is not part of the plan. Looking at international syndication, it looks so impossible and of course, very expensive to even submit my works via snail mail. One example is King Feature Syndicate who recieves 3,000 cartoon strips per year and out of it, they only syndicate 3 comic strips. What are the chances right? If I were to be serious about this stuff, I'd rather go for "self-syndication". Just like what I did to Manila Bulletin where send your works directly to the art editor or whoever is in charge with the magazine or newspaper. Also, with the dying newspaper industry in the US, it's better to aim directly at third world countries... Well I'm sure Manila Bulletin wouldn't mind getting this printed somewhere else. I don't know guys.. what are your thoughts?

Dra. Yap

I will be releasing this August Metro Comicon a new indie comic book about my friend, Dra. Yap. She is a cardiologist whom I got to meet back when I was in college. I stayed in a doctor's dorm when I was still studying in UP Diliman. There, I grew close to this charming and lovable 33-year-old woman. This is not only about her dealing with the devil but also tackles a love tradegy between a Filipino-Chinese relationship.

Women Cartoonist in Philippines

There were only 5 of us who attended the meeting for Women Cartoonist. Aileen and Bok didn't make it. Looking at this, it is evident that women are still a minority in the world of komiks. In attendance are only Manila Bulletin and Philippine Daily Inquirer which after we realized there are no woman cartoonist in Philippine Star and other tabloids. From left: Mimi Romualdez (ex-MB), Stephanie Bravo (PDI), Elizabeth Chionglo (PDI)
Me and Syeri beside Sir Boboy.

Well, Andrew also attended the meeting... ok pretending to be a girl. We will be holding an exhibit sometime in September together with the one and only woman cartoonist in the Muslim community (forgot her name) and other Asians. Also met up with Greco Milambiling after.
