Favoritism

Translation:
Clover: You know what sis, Oli is the favorite agent of boss Ken.
Cathy: 'coz we are full of complains
Cathy: Why did you say that he is the favorite?
Clover: Look!
Oli: Boss, let me do the monitoring, coaching and board updates
Ken: can you also do the corrective action?

A Heart Broken Girl

Dear Ate Hazel,

Just call me depressed girl. First of all, I really think your book is cool. Don’t worry I bought your comic book naman po. Halos mamatay po ako sa katatawa. Anyway, the reason I’m writing is because I have this problem at work. You see, I am a trainer and I fell in love with one of the agents. We started as good friends. He used to be my trainee. He is tall, cute looks and has a good built. Magaling din siyang magcalls and has been assisting team leaders. Anyway, naging kame… it was so unexpected and I fell really deep. He would always give me flowers and love status on facebook. Ate hazel, after three days, iniwan niya ako nang ganun lang… without any reason at all. Basta magulo, bigla siyang nanlamig at inaway niya ako. Of course I have pride and agreed to our break up. I cannot concentrate on my work anymore lalo na ngayon na tuloy tuloy pa ang training class ko. We see each other on the floor pero deadma. After three weeks, nalaman ko na lang na may iba na siyang girlfriend. Everyone sees them kissing pa after their shift. I don’t know what to do… he looks affected naman when we broke up. He was even posting his heart broken drama on Facebook. I feel like quitting my job.

Yours truly,
Depressed girl

Dear Depressed Girl,

First of all, thank you so much for reading and buying Callwork. With regards to your question, ano bang kalandian ang nangyayari diyan sa call center niyo? Haay. I’m sorry but quitting is not the answer to your problem. Kung wala, you can either go look outside pero never ever loose your focus on work. If ever you feel like quitting, try other call centers din. Darating din yan (kahit gasgas na yang linyang iyan) Remember you don’t deserve an asshole like him. Kung mahal ka niya talaga in the first place, aayusin niya yan at hindi pupulot lang ng ibang gf sa tabi tabi.. Good luck. Again thanks for writing. Oo nga pala, pabayaan mo na sila. He’s not worth it na sulutin mo pa.

Review - Sentences and Vignettes Valentino

Hey there! I won't be posting any comics update anytime soon since I'm catching up with the Manila Bulletin's Sunday strip to sync with this blog and also I'm already working on my second book. I will be launching this on summer Komikon. In the mean time, I have some great autobiographical comix recommendations for you to read:Sentences the life of MF Grimmo is a story of a kid who grew up on hip hop, rap, gangsters, drugs in New York. It is quite depressing story but it will get you hooked on. I didn't realize that
there are really people who lived a life like this. He has been shot, prisoned, but still life goes on for this talented rapper. My favorite scene was when his best friend came to visit to his hospital bed while he is in coma. Soon after that he learned that his best friend was already dead.
Another graphic novel called Vignettes: The Autobiographical Comix of Valentino is a good read. Very honest, expresses well both in writing and art. I really enjoyed reading this wasted comics (wasted ,coz he is always wasted with acid). It's funny, and the way he deals with his everyday life... how he wanted to quit smoking, how he handled his marriage and step kids, how hard it is living as an artist with clients who can't be trusted with commissions. I read this for days. I didn't expect that there's too much content inside this book. Every chapter is an experience I wouldn't forget. I salute you, Valentino!

SKP Christmas Party 2009

We celebrated the SKP (Samahang Kartunista ng Pilipinas) Christmas party last Dec. 12, a very traffic Saturday dinner in the "I Have Two Eggs" along Tomas Morato, Timog. Timog is a very nostalgic place for me since I spent most of my college night life hanging out there. Though the resto's and bars are now different back then. Me, Syeri and Andrew were the first one to arrive (should be! I left south area around 3:30 pm and arrived arround 6:15 pm)
New member Omi from Abs cbn with his friend,Freely Abrigo from Manila Bulletin, Ben Nacion from Bandilla, Sir Boboy Yonzon of Mango Comics, Andrew Villar from Manila Bulletin, Ed Padilla from Kabayan, Philipe Cruz from Manila Bulletin, Totoy Yonzon from Mango Comics, Jun Aquino from Philippine Free Press, Blad Usi from Remante, Manila Times, etc., William Contreras from Manila Bulletin, Syeri Baet from Manila Bulletin and Komikon, Ariel Atienza, Norman Isaac from Manila Bulletin. Not in Photo: Sir Barry Jose, Rene Aranda from Philippine Star, Romy Buen from Abante, Stanley Chi and Julius Villanueva from Manila Bulletin, and others whom I can't remeber their names as of now.

Ed Padilla and Sir Boboy dancing. Yeah we have to dance in order to receive our exchange gifts.

I ended up winning a rice cooker. Then got a Philippine Cartoon History from exchange gift galing kay Jun Aquino. Me, Stan, Julius, Andrew, Ariel, Sir Boboy together with Jing, Charm and two other guys (sorry! forgot your names) ended up in a coffee shop after the party. It was an enjoyable experience even the travel is so damn far.

May istorya. Which is somehow realistic sa isang fantasy komiks.

Second San Pablo Komiks Festival

I arrived early.. around 9 am. Andrew Villar, Amos Villar and his balikbayan college friend, Rod Espinosa were already there. It was too freezing windy! I was already wearing a jacket by lunch time. The food was so good and cheap as well. It was really a worth while trip to San Pablo. It was overall a successful event. I was able to buy a lot of new komiks, comics from Comic Odyssey and 100 years of Philippine Komiks and Cartoons. Congratulations to the organizers. :)
