Another Interview from Planet Markus: Panels and Pages

"he idea of doing comics strips about call centers might seem like a natural one for Hazel. Besides, she has always loved drawing and creating comics… plus she works at a call center herself!

However, the result was nothing short of brilliant! The comic strips started becoming popular not only to her fellow call center agents but also got to find its way on the pages of Manila Bulletin.

Boys and girls, lets meet Hazel Manzano as she answers a few questions about the past, present and future of Callwork comics..."

Callwork Review on Pinoy Callture

Here's a new review of Callwork: A Call Center Life from Pinoy Callture.

"Callwork takes a playful jab into the call center industry, made credible by the author’s genuine experiences. Hers is a humorous take on cheating hearts, nicotine-induced fits of insanity, brutal gossiping, job disgruntlement, and other issues and nuances most call center employees deal with “night in and night out.” Make no mistake about it though, Callwork is a subtle yet brilliant call for change in the management methods of the BPO industry, as evidenced by the bits about attrition and payroll discrepancy. Readers will be pleased to see themselves amply represented as one of the comics’ characters, as the author makes an effort to stay faithful to the working environment. After all, this is real life…on night diff."

Waking the Dead

I have always been a fan of horror. Back in 2004, I started collecting True Philippine Ghost Stories since I've read the first book from my agent at that time. Now, the books doesn't seem to scare or entertain me anymore. If you want to read something different and scary, try reading "Waking the Dead" by Yvette Tan. These are collection of her short horror stories. Some of them are from anthologies. There's one story though that I didn't find it here... about the chop chop lady.. :( Remeber the rumors about Imelda Marcos having been "barang"? Her legs apparently grew scales all over. Or maybe about the Nazarene thing. The collection of stories here are very entertaining. Available in bookstores nationwaide

Below is something I made when I was 9 years old. I only scanned the cover since the body is made on terrible paper and cannot be read in scanner anymore... It's like Choose your own adventure type of book thingee...

Below is Fillopy made when I was 12 yrs old. I saw Fillopy in a sticker and made a story for it.

Below is Marwin also made when I was 12 yrs old.

Though it's kids stuff... I still enjoy reading them whenever I get to find them around...
